14 July 2015 - Philippine Ambassador to China Erlinda F. Basilio pledged the full support and cooperation of the Philippine Embassy in Beijing to the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) during the courtesy call on the Ambassador by newly installed ACC Secretary General Mrs. Yang Xiuping on June 18.

Secretary General Yang assumed her duties at the ACC on May 26. Prior to her appointment to the ACC, Secretary General Yang was China’s Ambassador to ASEAN in Jakarta.

During the call, Ambassador Basilio shared with the Secretary General her view that it is important to project ASEAN-China relations in a more comprehensive way, especially with the impending formal integration of ASEAN into one Community by the end of 2015. Ambassador Basilio emphasized that, “The Philippines wants the public to understand that the partnership between ASEAN and China could only redound to the benefit of the Southeast Asian and Chinese peoples.”

For her part, Secretary General Yang expressed appreciation for the support and cooperation of ASEAN Member States, particularly the Philippines, in the ACC’s programs and projects. END
