14 July 2015 - Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco presented his credentials to Her Excellency President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca of the Republic of Malta as non-resident Ambassador to Malta at The Palace in Valletta on July 08.

In his meeting with President Preca, Ambassador Nolasco reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Malta particularly in the fields of trade, education, migration, maritime, tourism, environment, human rights and the campaign against human trafficking.

Ambassador Nolasco highlighted that the Philippines and Malta, even though separated by distance, share mutual interests and common values, as both are archipelagic countries with predominantly Roman Catholic population. He further expressed appreciation to the Maltese Government’s cooperation and assistance during the repatriation of Filipinos from Libya last year when Malta was used as a transit point of Filipino evacuees.

President Preca expressed confidence in the enhancing of bilateral relations of the two countries especially in the increase of people-to-people exchanges. She mentioned that the Filipino community in Malta is well-respected by the Maltese people. END
