16 July 2015 - The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong, together with other 19 teams from various Filipino organizations and business groups participated in the 3rd Square and Compass Club Hong Kong (SCCHK) Charity Bowling Tournament, held at the Dragon Bowling Centre in Kowloon on July 11.

The annual bowling tournament aims to raise funds to support the charity activities of SCCHK.  This year, proceeds from the tournament are intended for the Bahay ni Maria Foundation in Calamba, Laguna, a house for abandoned elderly and mistreated children managed by the Missionary of Sisters of Our Lady of Fatima.

The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong fielded its own team composed of Deputy Consul General Christian L. de Jesus, Ms. Bernadeth G. Aranzaso  as team captain, Ms. Luz M. Iglesias, Mr. Florentino D. Granada and Mr. Danilo A. Baldon.

In his remarks, Deputy Consul General Christian L. de Jesus congratulated the SCCHK for organizing the annual tournament which promotes interaction and fosters friendship among Filipino organizations and other business groups for a good cause.

Deputy Consul General Christian L. de Jesus was joined at the tournament’s ceremonial ball roll-off by Mr. Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno, six- time World Bowling Champion, Mr. Wu Siu Hong, East Asian Games Gold Medalist and Mr. Ric Mercado, Chairman of SCCHK.

The Philippine Consulate bowling team bagged the 1st Mixed Team Runner Up under Group C. The Elite Team, Hong Kong Football Club, and 19 Rock emerged as champions in Class A, Class B and Class C respectively. Mr. Jimmy Manalo and Ms. Almaz Lau received the Male and Female Highest Pin Falls and Highest Number of Strikes award. END
