20 July 2015 - The Philippine food festival, dubbed “Flavours of the Philippines,” returned to The Grace Hotel in Sydney for its 9th year and was officially opened on July 15. It will be featured at the Grace Brasserie until August 02.
The food festival is organized by the office of the Department of Tourism in Sydney, headed by Tourism Attaché Consuelo Jones, The Grace Hotel Sydney and Philippine Airlines (PAL). Philippine Ambassador to Australia Belen F. Anota, Consul General to Sydney Anne Jalando-on Louis and spouse Dr. Gerard Joseph Louis, and Consul Marford Angeles attended the launch together with invited guests which included travel and food writers, tour operators, travel agents, local media and members of the Filipino community.
This year, three top chefs from the Philippines were flown to Sydney by PAL for the food festival. Ms. Michelle Adrillana, Celebrity Chef and Food Consultant, leads the team with Celebrity Chef Sydney Roque and Pastry Chef Angelica De Leon accompanying her.
In her remarks for the occasion, Ambassador Anota conveyed her appreciation to Mr. Philip Pratley, General Manager of The Grace Hotel, and his team for their continued support for the festival, and also acknowledged the support of PAL. She also lauded the Filipino chefs for bringing their talents and skills to Australia to showcase the variety and flavors of Filipino food to patrons in Sydney. Ambassador Anota took the opportunity to invite the guests to take part in the upcoming Visit Philippines 2015 tour to continue to taste and experience Filipino cuisine. END
