20 July 2015 - Imusicapella, a Philippine choir based in Imus, Cavite, won the first and second prize in the art song and folk song categories respectively in the 52nd Internationaler Chorwettbewerb 2015 held in Spittal an der Drau, Carinthia, Austria on July 11. Representing the Philippines, they bested nine other choirs from the USA, Latvia, Germany, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Austria, Czech Republic, Spain, and Slovenia.
Imusicapella’s conductor, Mr. Tristan C. Ignacio, was also awarded the “Günther-Mittergradnegger-Preis 2015” for the best interpretation of a contemporary work.
Philippine Ambassador to Austria Maria Zeneida Angara Collinson personally congratulated the choir when they paid a courtesy call at the Philippine Embassy after their performance. The choir likewise invited Ambassador Angara Collinson and the Embassy personnel to their performances at the Stephansdom and various churches in Vienna from July 18 to 19. END
