Madrid gold medal award

04 September 2013 - The Philippine Embassy in Madrid reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that Mr. Raimundo Folch, a Filipino-Spanish sculptor based in Valencia, Spain, won the gold medal for sculpture at the 31st Salon International de Peinture et Sculpture held in Vittel, France.  The competition was held from July 12 to 22.

The Salon International de Peinture et Sculpture is considered as one of the most important international art fairs in France, following the Salon de Carrousel and the Gran Palais de Paris.

Approximately 200 artists from around the world participated in this year’s edition of the art fair.

The Manila-born artist won the prestigious Baumel-Schwenck grand prize during the Salon de Carousel in Paris in 2011.  More recently, the Embassy commissioned Mr. Folch  to create a bronze bust of Rizal which is now proudly displayed in Parque Alameda in Cadiz, Spain along with other national heroes of South America.
