22 July 2015 - The University of the Philippines (UP) String Orchestra, more popularly known as UP ARCO, performed at the Piazza Maggiore in Inzago, Milan last July 16. Delighting their audience with an all-Filipino repertoire including, among others, compositions by National Artists Antonino Buenaventura, Felipe Padilla de Leon and Antonino Molina, UP ARCO’s visit bolsters the efforts of the Philippine Consulate General in Milan in promoting Filipino culture to the Italian public.
During their courtesy call on Philippine Consul General Marichu Mauro, UP ARCO shared that earlier this month, they represented the Philippines in two acclaimed international music festivals in Europe, the Budapest Music Festival and the 7th International Youth Music Festival in Bratislava.
Currently composed of 20 select student artists, UP ARCO is one of the resident performing groups of the UP College of Music and is part of the UP Orchestra. END
