23 July 2015 – The Philippine Consulate General in New York resumed off-site consular services and held back-to-back Consular Outreach missions to Rochester and Albany last July 18 and 19 to deliver services to Filipinos and Filipino-Americans in Upstate New York and surrounding areas.
The team, consisting of Vice Consul Khrys Corpuz, Thor Indanan, Fe Dumaguit, Renie Tomas, Dondee Santos, Wendell Gaa, Marianne Olfindo, and Churtney Suntay, provided consular services to about 200 applicants during the weekend outreach.
The Filipino American Association of Rochester led by Mr. Mar Doromal was the Consulate General’s partner organization that helped organize the Consular Outreach Mission in their area, where 100 applicants were able to avail themselves of consular services on July 18 at St. John’s Home.
The following day, on July 19, Albany Medical Center – which employs about 200 Filipino nurses and medical practitioners – through the assistance of Ms. Wendy Press, hosted the Consular team for the 7th year now. A total of 93 services were completed that Sunday.
Majority of the applicants submitted appointment requests to the Consulate General weeks before the outreach dates, which were pre-processed by the team prior to arriving at the venue, facilitating faster transactions and shorter turnaround times during the actual service days.
The next consular outreach will be on October 10 in Newington, Connecticut hosted by the Pilipino Association of Connecticut.
