24 July 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Budapest, Hungary conducted a two-day mobile consular and overseas voters registration services held at the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Sofia, Bulgaria. 

The consular team was headed by Philippine Consul General Patricia V. Barrera with members of the Philippine Embassy in Budapest, with the assistance of Philippine Honorary Consul to Bulgaria, Mr. Ognian Trajanov.  

Philippine Ambassador to Hungary Eleanor L. Jaucian joined the consular team and held meetings with the Filipino community in Bulgaria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, and Sredec Mayor Verginiya Stoyanova for a possible project where a pathway will be named after Dr. Jose P. Rizal in Borisova Gradina, the oldest and best known park in Sofia. They also met with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Varna University International School of Management for possible scholarship opportunities for Filipinos in Bulgaria.

The consular team was able to process passport renewals, notarials, and other consular services, conducted consultations relating to assistance to nationals cases, as well as register overseas voters for the upcoming elections in 2016. 

On July 19, a Filipino community meeting was organized by Philippine Honorary Consul to Bulgaria, Mr. Ognian Trajanov, at the Talents Restaurant in Sofia. Some Filipinos travelled all the way from Varna and Burgas, on the Black Sea coast of the eastern part of Bulgaria and were very happy to meet Ambassador Jaucian and the Consular team. The Filipinos expressed their appreciation to Consul Trajanov for his assistance and support for the Filipino community in Bulgaria. 

Ambassador Jaucian informed the community on the latest developments in the Philippines as well as announcements and advice from the Embassy. Ambassador Jaucian also gave a briefing on “Anti-Trafficking in Persons”. END
