24 July 2015 - Timor-Leste Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Dr. Hernani F. Coêlho da Silva hosted a cocktail reception in honor of outgoing Philippine Ambassador to Timor-Leste Maria Aileen H. Bugarin.
Held at the Diplomatic Institute Building in Dili on July 16, the reception was attended by members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of international organizations in Timor-Leste. Foreign ministry officials were also present at the event.
In her brief remarks, Ambassador Bugarín expressed her deep appreciation for the cooperation and friendship extended by the Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and the Timorese people to the Embassy during her term.
Reflecting on her assignment in Timor-Leste, the Ambassador noted that her stay in the country had been fruitful and productive because of the kind and generous spirit of the Timorese. She also said that her posting in Dili allowed her to contribute in the crafting of the Philippine Government’s development template for South-South cooperation.
In response, Foreign Minister Coêlho thanked her for her positive contributions in furthering the two countries’ bilateral relations.
Ambassador Bugarín presented her credentials on August 04, 2009. Her successor will be Ambassador-Designate Evelyn D. Austria-Garcia, also a career diplomat. END
