Mexico OV

24 July 2015 – Philippine Embassy in Mexico Protocol Officer Mr. Ruben F. de Jesus, Jr., and Finance Officer and deputized Commission on Elections (COMELEC) representative Mr. Randy S. Hilot conducted consular outreach and overseas voters (OV) registration services, respectively, for the members of the Filipino community in Belize City, Belize on July 18.

They extended their services at the office of Atty. Mikhail Arguelles, the Philippine Honorary Consul in Belize, located at 35 New Road, Belize City.

Thirteen Filipinos applied for the renewal of their e-passports, one applied for dual citizenship while thirteen others applied for OV registration.

The consular applicants and eligible registrants, who came mostly from the province of Cebu to pursue medical professions in Belize, expressed their appreciation for the Embassy’s extension of services in their area as they are having a hard time to get a Mexican visa to travel to Mexico City and some don’t have the financial capacity to travel to renew their passports at the nearest Philippine Embassy. Most of their passports will expire this year while some have expired already.

With the OV registration, they are glad that they can now participate in upcoming elections and can exercise their right of suffrage though far away from the Philippines.

The carrying out of the above services is part of the Embassy’s efforts to reach out to all the members of the Filipino community in the countries under its jurisdiction. END
