28 July 2015 - The Philippine Embassy, together with the Filipino community in Rome, celebrated the 37th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week and at the same time commemorated the 151st Birth Anniversary of Apolinario Mabini on July 23.
The celebration was commenced by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem followed by a brief remark from the Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco.
Underscoring this year’s theme, “Health and Wellness Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities Toward an Inclusive Development for All”, Ambassador Nolasco expressed that it is in the Philippine interest to promote public awareness on the challenges of disability.
He called on Filipinos “to be compassionate and to give a hand to our brothers and sisters who have disabilities.”
The celebration was also commemorated, through an exhibit of Mabini’s Decalogue and on information on how to interact with people with disabilities, at the Consular section of the Embassy. END
