29 July 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam sponsored a Lecture-Forum on Health Consciousness on July 24 at the Chancery, as part of its Gender and Development (GAD) program. One hundred sixty nine (169) participants composed of 110 females and 59 males participated in said event.

The lecture-forum provided an opportunity for the Filipinos in Brunei to gain awareness and deeper understanding of ailments affecting many Filipinos like prostate cancer, sexually transmitted diseases, breast and ovarian cancers. The participants also had a chance to have their blood tests for hemoglobin, blood typing, blood pressure and blood donation conducted by Jerudong Park Medical Center (JPMC).

The lecture-forum was conducted in coordination with Dr. Joseph D. Castro, Dr. Ma. Theresa C. Castro, and Dr. Maria Susie J. Magpusao of the Ministry of Health in Brunei Darussalam, who acted as speakers.

Because of the good reception and feedback from the participants, the Embassy plans to undertake similar events in the future. END
