4 September 2013 - A team from the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, led by Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia conducted a consular outreach program on August 31 in Chiang Mai for Filipinos in this province and from neighboring provinces in northern Thailand. During the outreach, the consular team rendered passport and other consular services, including legalization of documents, and processing of applications for dual citizenship. Over 120 members of the Filipino community turned out for the consular outreach program.

In her opening and closing remarks, Ambassador Batoon-Garcia encouraged members of the Filipino community to strive to be competitive and to teach their families, especially their children about entrepreneurship. She encouraged them to be vigilant against human traffickers and to abide by the host government’s laws and regulations.

Consul General Edgar B. Badajos gave a briefing on the movement of natural persons with the advent of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.  Vice Consul Jay Alcantara conducted the Embassy’s 8th Financial Learning Seminar (FLS) and updated the community on the Embassy’s new website (www.bangkokpe.com) and official Facebook page (facebook.com/bkkpe).  He also gave a presentation on the Alternative Learning System Accreditation and Equivalency (ALS A&E) of the Philippine Department of Education, and informed them that the next ALS A &E will be conducted in mid-November 2013 in Bangkok.
