03 August 2015 - The Philippine Embassy, together with the Filipino community in Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), held the 2nd Eksenang Mabini, in celebration of the 151st Birth Anniversary of Apolinario Mabini, the “Sublime Paralytic”, and the 37th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week last July 23.
Representatives from the Lao Autism Association and the Lao Association for the Blind were invited to the occasion to raise awareness on the needs and challenges of individuals with disability in Laos.
Ms. Misouda Heuangsoukkhoun, Secretary General of the Lao Autism Association; and Mr. Pratya Wimanrat, National Coordinator and Advisor of the Lao Association of the Blind; briefed the Filipino community members on their organizations’ programs, products and services.
A special performance from the children of the Lao Autism Association drew the attention and applause of around 60 Filipino community members who willingly supported the cause of the association by buying the paintings, handmade greeting cards, and souvenir mugs and t-shirts sold during the event.
