05 August 2015 - The Philippine team successfully concluded its participation in the Special Olympics World Games with a haul of 24 gold, 19 silver, and 21 bronze medals or a total of 64 medals in Los Angeles from July 25 to August 02.
The City of Los Angeles hosted the Special Olympics World Games participated by 6,500 athletes from 165 countries. It is the largest sports and humanitarian event anywhere in the World for 2015 and the single biggest event in Los Angeles since the 1984 Olympic Games.
The Philippine contingent numbering 35, and who were in Los Angeles, were successful in obtaining Gold, Silver and Bronze medals through spirit, teamwork, joy and courage and skill, all hallmarks of Olympic games.

Philippine Consul General in Los Angeles Leo Herrera-Lim and the Filipino-American community of Los Angeles trooped to the Games to show their support much to the delight of our athletes.
The Special Olympics held a Festival at the University of Southern California (USC) where the “Kayamanan Ng Lahi,” a Filipino-American dance troupe, performed to the delight of the audiences. END
