05 August 2015 - The new Commander of the United States Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Vincent B. Atkins, who assumed duties in May 2015, called on Philippine Consul General to Honolulu Gina A. Jamoralin at her office at the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu on July 31.
The Coast Guard Commander talked about opportunities for collaboration with the Philippine Coast Guard in terms of training and capability building, joint patrols and exercises for the mutual benefit of the United States and the Philippines. The U.S. Coast Guard 14th District based in Hawaii has an area of responsibility that spans over 12 million square miles and includes the Hawaiian Islands, Guam, American Samoa, Saipan, Singapore and Japan.
