05 August 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Madrid ended its chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Madrid (ACM) on July 23, turning over the position to the Royal Thai Embassy during a meeting between the Heads of Mission of the five ASEAN embassies in Spain.

Prior to relinquishing the chairmanship, Philippine Ambassador to Spain Carlos Salinas reviewed the Philippines’ inaugural chairmanship of the ACM which included a joint courtesy call on Foreign Minister José Manuel Garcia-Margallo, a business forum in cooperation with Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria and a bowling tournament. He also cited the close cooperation among the ASEAN missions in making each of the afore-mentioned projects a success which reinforced the camaraderie among the embassies’ officers and staff as well as strengthened their working relationships.

Ambassador Salinas was later presented with a Certificate of Appreciation signed by the Ambassadors of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, in recognition of his successful stewardship of the Committee. END
