06 August 2015 - Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Maria Lumen B. Isleta paid a courtesy call on Dr. Yohana Susana Yambise, Indonesian Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, at the latter’s office on August 03.

Ambassador Isleta briefed Minister Yambise on the programs of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) as the Philippine government authority that champions women’s empowerment and gender equality. 

During the meeting, Ambassador Isleta and Minister Yambise also exchanged views on various gender issues such as human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual exploitation, etc. The meeting discussed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation in the area of gender development and both sides agreed to develop collaborative programs aimed at the protection women and migrant workers’ welfare.

 Minister Yambise expressed interest in visiting the Philippines to gain more information on best practices in the promotion and protection of women’s and children’s rights and welfare. END
