06 August 2015 - Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Yasmin Busran-Lao headed the delegation that visited Brunei Darussalam from July 28 to 30, together with other NCMF officials and representatives from the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority and Freeport (ZAMBOECOZONE) to meet with their Brunei counterpart agencies on a prospective cooperation in the Halal Industry.
The visit was a follow-up to the NCMF’s initial trip to Brunei in May 2015.
The delegation, accompanied by Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Meynardo LB. Montealegre and Philippine Embassy officials, paid courtesy calls on the Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, the State Mufti, and the Minister of Religious Affairs on July 29.

The delegation and said Brunei officials discussed possible areas of cooperation in the Halal Industry and other matters significant to Filipino Muslims.
The officials also met with officials from the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) headed by its Permanent Secretary, Yang Mulia Hajah Normah Suria Hayati, to discuss in detail the possible areas of cooperation.
The delegation also toured the Brunei’s Bio Innovation Corridor site in Kampong Tungku on July 30. END
