06 August 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in The Hague conducted a seminar on August 03 for the participants of The Hague Academy of International Law on the modalities that the Philippines implements and complies with its international obligations in the areas of public and private international law.

The seminar held at the Chancery was delivered by Philippine Ambassador to The Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda, Second Secretary and Consul Zoilo Velasco, and Atty. Paula Defensor-Knack. It was attended by 16 students of The Hague Academy from Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Thailand, United States of America, France, Brazil, Peru, Japan, and the Philippines. During the presentation and the open forum, the students actively participated in the discussions and expressed appreciation for the organization of the event.

The Embassy not only discussed its work in the area of public international law, particularly the peaceful settlement of international disputes, but also highlighted its activities in the area of private international law, such as the Philippines’ chairmanship of the Special Commission on the Practical Operation of the 1993 Intercountry Adoption Convention held at the Hague Academy from June 08 to 12 and its role in extending assistance and promoting the welfare of Filipino nationals in the Netherlands.
