10 August 2015 – The ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD), in cooperation with the Philippine School Doha (PSD), successfully celebrated the 48th Anniversary of ASEAN on August 06 at the PSD gymnasium.

“[This] event reminds us of what the ASEAN founding fathers had achieved on 08 August 1967 when they gathered at the First ASEAN Ministerial Meeting and signed the Bangkok Declaration,” Indonesian Ambassador and current ACD Chairperson Deddy Saiful Hadi said.

The ASEAN Day celebration kicked off with a press conference, followed by the raising of the ASEAN flag, ribbon-cutting and viewing of the booths built by PSD students and which featured each ASEAN member state. Various creative presentations were also staged by the PSD students, showcasing all ASEAN member states and the region’s cultural diversity.

The ASEAN member states were represented in the event by Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Wilfredo C. Santos, as well as the members of the diplomatic corps in Qatar including Indonesian Ambassador Hadi, Brunei Ambassador Nordin Ahmad, Thai Ambassador Piroon Laismit, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Huang, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Malaysia in Qatar Mohd Noor Zaky Mohd Nasir, and Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Singapore in Qatar Kenny Tan.
