6 September 2013 - To commemorate United States (US) Labor Rights Week, the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, in partnership with the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in San Francisco, and Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Region IX Office, organized a public briefing at the Consulate on September 3.
The EEOC Head in San Francisco, Director Michael Baldonado, and OSHA Region IX Deputy Regional Administrator Barbara Yee Goto, led other members of their respective agencies in conducting the briefing.
The EEOC and OSHA officials briefed the public on the mission and programs of their respective agencies, and how they can help the members of the Filipino and Filipino-American community, in protecting their rights as employers and employees. The audience took the opportunity to raise labor-related issues during the open forum after the briefing. Both agencies also distributed information materials to the public.
The Consulate will be working with the two agencies in reaching out and providing information and assistance to the Filipino and Filipino-American community. END
