14 August 2015 - Vice Secretary General Li Chengzi of the Liaoning People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries called on Philippine Ambassador to China Erlinda F. Basilio on August 07.

Vice Secretary General Li briefed Ambassador Basilio on the economic development of Liaoning Province as well as the various opportunities for economic cooperation between his province and provinces and cities in the Philippines.

He said that Shenyang City in Liaoning has an existing sister city partnership with Quezon City, and that in the near future he hopes to play a part in enhancing city-to-city relations with Quezon City.

Mr. Li also mentioned that in line with the national government’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative, his province has started to focus on enhancing economic cooperation with countries in Southeast Asia.

Vice Secretary General Li also extended an invitation to Ambassador Basilio to participate in the upcoming “2015 ASEAN Countries Ambassador Lecture Tour” in Liaoning to allow local business enterprises to learn about the economic opportunities in the Philippines. END
