25 August 2015 - Philippine Navy Chief Rear Admiral Caesar C. Taccad led the Philippine delegation to the 9th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting (ANCM) held from August 19 to 22, in Nay Pyi Taw.
The meeting which focused on the theme “Fostering ASEAN Naval Teamwork in Regional Maritime,” unanimously adopted the final draft of the Standard Operating Procedures for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (SOP on HADR) presented by Rear Admiral Taccad. The SOP on HADR, an initiative of the Philippine Navy, was initially proposed in 2013 at the 7th ANCM in Manila.
On August 21, Rear Admiral Taccad paid a courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Alex G. Chua at the Philippine Embassy in Yangon. The two discussed the current developments in Myanmar and exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between the navies of the Philippines and Myanmar.
The visit to Myanmar is Rear Admiral Taccad’s first official foreign visit as the Philippine Navy Flag Officer in Command. He was appointed to the position by President Benigno Aquino III on August 10. END
