25 August 2015 - In commemoration of the 48th Anniversary of the Founding of ASEAN, the ASEAN Vienna Committee organized the first ASEAN Family Day in Vienna on August 08 at Währinger Park.
In her opening remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Austria and incoming ASEAN Vienna Committee Chair Maria Zeneida Angara Collinson stressed that, more than summitry and meetings, interaction between the peoples of ASEAN at events such as these help in building the envisioned ASEAN Community. She also welcomed San Lwin, Myanmar’s first resident Ambassador to Austria.
Members of ASEAN diplomatic missions and their families, as well as their respective community members in Vienna, participated in the ASEAN Family Day. Food from the different ASEAN Member States represented in Vienna was served. Several sporting events and some games also took place during the celebrations, which were actively participated in by those present. END
