02 September 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi marked National Heroes Day by organizing a week-long photo exhibit on monuments in the Philippines depicting the bravery and heroism of Filipinos.
The exhibit, “Monuments to an Exalted Past” was formally opened on August 26 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony headed by Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Grace Relucio Princesa on August 26 at the main atrium of Al Wahda Mall. The exhibit, which features 20 photographs with narratives displaying the various monuments of Filipino heroes and historic events, ran from August 26 to 31.
In her speech, Ambassador Princesa paid homage to the Filipino heroes in Philippine history. She also paid tribute to Overseas Filipino workers and encourage them to continue their hard work for their families and for the country.
Aside from Embassy officers and staff, the opening of the exhibit was attended by the officials of Al Wahda Mall, officers and members of the Order of Knights of Rizal - Emarat Abu Dhabi Chapter, Philippine schools officials and teachers, leaders and members of Filipino community organizations in Abu Dhabi and the media. A certificate of appreciation was given to Al Wahda Mall for being the venue of the exhibit.
The photo exhibit is initially a project of the Foreign Service Officers Cadet Corps Batch 17 – Alab in 2012. END
