03 September 2015 – Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz headed a delegation which visited Brunei Darussalam from August 26 to 28 to check on the situation of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and explore areas to further enhance cooperation with the host country. She was joined by Undersecretary Reydeluz D. Conferido, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac, Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA) Administrator Rebecca J. Calzado, Director Saul T. De Vries, and Director Nicon F. Fameronag.

 

Undersecretary Conferido and other DOLE officials, accompanied by Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Meynardo LB. Montealegre and officials of the Philippine Embassy in Brunei paid a courtesy call on Yang Di Muliakan Pehin Datu Laila Raja Major General (Rtd.) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs, on August 26. They discussed prospective areas to further improve labor cooperation.

The delegation held separate meetings with company representatives employing OFWs, the recruitment agencies based in Brunei, and with the Filipino community. The Secretary updated them on DOLE’s policies and programs for Overseas Filipino Workers.

 

During her meeting with the Filipino community, Secretary Dimapilis-Baldoz launched BM Online, the online processing system of Balik Manggagawa or Overseas Employment Certificate. END
