07 September 2015 – Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Wilfredo C. Santos paid his first official courtesy call on a Qatari government official right after presenting his credentials to the Deputy Emir by meeting with the Transport Minister Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti on September 01.
Ambassador Santos took the opportunity to thank Minister Al Sulaiti on the Transport Ministry’s assistance during the successful holding of the Eidl Fitr Filipino Food Festival last July 17 to 19, as well as the preparations for the launch of Cebu Pacific flights to Doha last June.
The Ambassador also expressed interest to explore economic opportunities for Philippine companies in the new Hamad Port which will have its soft launching by the end of 2015. “I also look forward to pursuing various avenues of cooperation with the Transport Ministry, including in the area of cloud seeding,” Ambassador Santos added.
“I am open to receiving Philippine delegations and would welcome an official visit to the Philippines also,” Minister Al Sulaiti responded. END
