10 September 2015 - Philippine Ambassador to Greece Nestor Z. Ochoa met with Mayor Yiannis Boutaris of Thessaloniki on September 06 at the Thessaloniki City Hall. Ambassador Ochoa was accompanied by Consul Sheila Marie C. Tario and Philippine Honorary Consul Nikolaos Margaropoulos.
During the meeting, Ambassador Ochoa and Mayor Boutaris discussed the ongoing procedures relating to the finalization of the draft sister cityagreement between Cebu City and Thessaloniki. Ambassador Ochoa noted that Cebu and Thessaloniki have many similar characteristics. They are both the second largest cities in their countries, both port cities, possessing a rich local culture and history.
Ambassador Ochoa also thanked Mayor Boutaris for Thessaloniki’s kind hospitality to more than 400 Filpinos. Mayor Boutaris replied that he wants people who live in Thessaloniki to feel at home.
Thessaloniki is located in the Northeastern coast of the Greek mainland and is the second largest city in Greece. END
