10 September 2013 - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul launched the video on Philippine culture for Filipino-Korean children on September 08.
The video aims to introduce general information on culture, history and present day Philippines to children from multi-cultural families in Korea, even if they are living abroad and do not understand the Filipino language. It is also in support to the cultural diplomacy program of the Department of Foreign Affairs that aims at spreading awareness about the Philippines to second- generation Filipinos abroad.
“While looking after the well-being of the growing number of Filipina spouses in South Korea remains to be among the top priorities of the Philippines Embassy, we also recognize the importance of preparing Filipino-Korean children for a growing multicultural Korean society and of helping them understand their Philippine heritage,” Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Luis T. Cruz said in his opening remarks.
The video, entitled “Philippine Culture for Multicultural Kids,” uses animation, video clips and pictures with Korean voiceover to make it more appealing to children. It is also designed to enhance their interest in the history, culture and life in the Philippines. The video has also been made available online and may be accessed through http://youtu.be/XKWX9J4GdCc. Two days after the launching ceremony, the video has gained 317 hits online.
This video is the latest among a series of Embassy-produced films and videos about Philippine Korean relations and about Filipinos living in Korea. Earlier, the Embassy also produced and launched a video entitled “Multicultural Marriages” in 2011 for Filipinos who are about to get married to foreigners in Korea. END
