21 September 2015 – As part of the Philippine Embassy in Brussels’ intensified campaign to register more overseas voters, teams are being dispatched to different locations in Belgium and Luxembourg to register overseas voters during and after Sunday masses.

Led by consuls, the teams collaborated with Filipino Catholic communities in the localities. They have been to Zelzate and Antwerp, and will be inLuxembourg, Kortrijk, Ghent, Brugge, Ostende, Leuven and Roselare. The teams have also been to ships docked in the Port of Antwerp.

Most of the registrants are Filipino women married to Belgian nationals; some Filipino women intend to apply for dual citizenship to be able to register and vote.

Said activities resulted to 16 new overseas voters being added to over a thousand new registered voters which the Embassy registered since May 2014.

The Philippine Embassy continues to explore all avenues to increase the numbers of registered voters. END
