21 September 2015 - Philippine Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer recently received Ms. Anna Beatrix “Trixie” Albert Pacis, a member of the Philippine Lady Volcanoes. Ms. Pacis, accompanied by her mother, Ma. Josefina “Joey” Albert Pacis, also a Filipino musical personality, presented the undersigned with a framed collage of photos depicting the bronze medal finish at the recent Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). Ms. Pacis was the team captain of the Lady Volcanoes in 2012.
The Lady Volcanoes is Philippines’ first women’s rugby team, which competed at the 28th SEA Games in Singapore on June 05 to 16. The women’s team bagged the bronze medal by defeating Malaysia, 22-0.
Ms. Pacis noted that being a dual citizen of the Philippines and Canada has given her the opportunity to share her athletic prowess and proudly represent the country where she was born. Ms. Pacis migrated to Canada when she was two years old.
Consul General Ferrer congratulated Ms. Pacis on her team’s outstanding placement at the SEA Games, and thanked her for her contributions as a Filipino-Canadian citizen. He also emphasized that her involvement with the Philippine Lady Volcanoes team is worth emulating and will surely motivate other young members of the Filipino-Canadian community to become dual citizens and be actively involved in Philippine society.
