28 September 2015 - As part of its efforts to bring the services of the Government closer to the Filipino community in Geneva and Vaud, the Philippine Consulate General in Geneva in partnership with the Filipino-Swiss Vaud Association (FILSVA), conducted a Consular Outreach in Lausanne on September 20.
FILSVA President Marichu Blum expressed her appreciation for the tireless efforts and close cooperation of the Consulate General in reaching out to the Filipino community.
Philippine Ambassador Cecilia B. Rebong lauded the camaraderie of the close albeit small Filipino community in Lausanne. She expressed the hope that the Philippine Mission to the UN and other International Organizations/Philippine Consulate General (Geneva PM/PCG) partnership with FILSVA will continue to flourish for the benefit of the Filipinos in the Canton of Vaud.
The Consulate General provided the following consular services: passports, notarials and dual citizenship; conducted overseas voters registration; Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Social Security System (SSS) and Pag-IBIG information campaign; legal and consular consultations. Geneva PM/PCG served: 21 passport applicants; 14 notarial applicants; 15 overseas voter registrants and one transferee. Four dual citizenship applicants also took their oath during the outreach.
Several members of the Filipino community particularly appreciated the one-on-one consultations with Ambassador Rebong and Consul General Enrico T. Fos. They said that it gave them the opportunity to discuss their respective problems and concerns.
Ambassador Rebong likewise attended the Filipino mass organized by the Philippine Catholic Mission and FILSVA for the Filipino community in Lausanne and Vaud. The Filipino Catholic mass is held every third Sunday of the month. END
