14 October 2015 - As part of the capacity-building of personnel of the Philippine Consulate General in Milan, Italy, a seminar workshop was conducted today at the Consulate to discuss various issues and concerns related to civil registration. Two representatives from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Deputy National Civil Registrar General Estela De Guzman and Director Lourdes Hufana, Assistant National Statistician, are in Milan from October 13 to 14 to update the Consulate personnel on relevant policies and procedures on civil registration such as reports of birth and marriage, delayed registrations, uses of civil registry documents, security features of documents, critical role of foreign service posts in civil registration, and rules and regulations on correcting clerical and typographical errors in the first name, day and month of birth of a person in the civil register without the need for a judicial order.
The PSA officials also discussed thoroughly the requirements in registering vital events of live birth, marriage, death, court decree on adoption and annulment of marriage, and legal instruments such as legitimation, marriage settlement and acknowledgement.
The Philippine Consulate General in Milan has organized a meeting of the PSA officials with the Filipino community of Milan and Northern Italy to give a talk on the importance and responsibility of registering vital events (birth, marriage, death, among others) in embassies and consulates. END
