14 October 2015 – To further bolster the profile of ASEAN in Egypt, the ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) organized two events showcasing the creativity and charity of the ten-nation bloc.
The Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition by ASEAN Students, held at the Cairo Opera House from October 07 to 09, featured 87 works in eight different calligraphy styles by ASEAN students in Egypt. The students also put their skills on display during live calligraphy demonstrations throughout the three-day exhibit. All artworks were made available for purchase by the public.
Meanwhile, clubs were swinging for a cause at the 7th ASEAN Invitational Golf Tournament on October 10 at the Dreamland Golf Resort in Cairo. The event also included a charity dinner at the Hilton Pyramids Golf Resort, where auction items and raffle prizes were up for grabs. Proceeds from the golf tournament and dinner, held annually by the ACC, benefitted the Shatby Hospital for Children in Alexandria.
The ACC is composed of the embassies of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam in Egypt. END
