20 October 2015 - The University of the Philippines Alumni-Guam (UPAG) celebrated its 35th founding anniversary with the theme “Live Inspired at 35,” and had its formal induction of officers and board of directors on October 17 at the La Brasserie of Holiday Resort and Spa.

The oath of office was administered by Philippine Consul General Marciano R. de Borja for the board of directors while Chief Justice Robert J. Torres, Jr. administered the new set of officers of the University of the Philippines Alumni-Guam for the year 2015-2016 headed by its re-elected President Tessie B. Marcos.

The keynote speaker at the event was Ms. Karen Davila, multi-awarded broadcast journalist and television personality, who was also an alumna of the University of the Philippines. In her speech, she shared her experience of how the University of the Philippines changed her life and fulfilled her dreams. She also shared her secret to work-life balance, a successful career in the media and a family life. She said that a balanced life is not all about work. It is about  work or livelihood, family, relationship with friends, health and own growth.

The event was also highlighted by a ceremonial toast and ceremonial cutting of the cake to celebrate the 35th founding anniversary of the University of Philippines Alumni-Guam, led by Consul General Marciano R. de Borja, Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio and Ms. Tessie B. Marcos, the re-elected President of UPAAG.  

At the end of the program, the University of the Philippines Alumni-Guam headed by its Board of Director Dr. Lilnabeth P. Somera and  its President Ms. Tessie Marcos, awarded scholarship grants to six college students, three from the University of Guam and three from Guam Community College. Dr. Robert Underwood, President of the University of Guam and Ms. Carmen K. Santos, CPA, Acting President of the Guam Community College, joined the UP alumni on stage for the awarding ceremony. END
