28 September 2015 - Filipinos in Geneva can now enjoy a freshly brewed cup of Filipino coffee blend, directly cultivated from Mt. Province and from other coffee plantations in the Philippines at the newly opened Viverra Coffee, owned by Filipino entrepreneur Mr. John Sasuya.
To demonstrate support for the Filipino-owned coffee shop, the Philippine Mission to the UN and other International Organizations/Philippine Consulate General in Geneva and some leaders of the Filipino community and those working at the UN Office in Geneva gathered last September 19 at Viverra Coffee for a Filipino coffee experience. The offices of the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to the World Trade Organization and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) representative to the World Trade Organization were also present.
“We laud John for serving Filipino coffee in his Swiss coffee shop. In doing so, he is not only promoting Filipino products here in Geneva but is also helping provide continuous income to coffee farmers in the Philippines, a true demonstration of a Filipino’s spirit of social responsibility,” Ambassador Cecilia B. Rebong, Permanent Representative to the UN and Other International Organizations said, adding, “and as Filipinos, we should strongly support such undertaking.”
Viverra Coffee has started to include Filipino cakes like ube cake and mango cheese cake in its menu. It is also becoming a popular haven for culture-lovers as it hosts regular art exhibitions and has a great collection of diverse reads available for customers.
Viverra Coffee currently hosts the mini-exhibition of Jusi (Philippine silk) paintings of another Filipino, Ms. Marissa Gonzalez.
Viverra Coffee is located at 22 Rue du Mole, in the heart of Paquis district in Geneva. It is open Mondays to Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. END
