12 September 2013 – Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia met with the Vice Governor and police and immigration officials of the province of Chiang Mai on August 31. They had a lively discussion on Philippines-Thailand relations.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended to about 400 overseas Filipinos who are contributing to the province of Chiang Mai’s economic development and socio-cultural diversity.
Vice Governor Rittipong Tachapunt replied that Filipinos are very welcome in the province. He said that Filipinos, whom he described as very hardworking and highly talented, are greatly valued and respected in the province for their contributions. He noted that most of the Filipinos residing in Chiang Mai are teachers.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Minister and Consul General Edgar Badajos, key officers of the Association of Filipinos in Thailand-Northern Region Chapter (AFT-NRC) led by Mrs. Mildred Morelos, and Mr. Agkarajit Phanomvan Na Ayudha. END
