26 October 2015 – Over 1,100 Filipinos registered as overseas voters at the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai’s field registration from October 23 to 24. Three field registration activities and the on-going daily registration at the Consulate General; were held — at the Crystal Plaza Hotel in Sharjah and the Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai on October 23 and at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubai on October 24.

A total of 571 registered in the two venues as overseas voters on October 23 in addition to the 354 Filipinos who registered at the Philippine Consulate General on that day.  Saturday netted a total of 379 registrants at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubai while another 182 registered at the Philippine Consulate General, bringing Saturday’s total to 561. Last weekend’s overseas voters registration activities processed a total of 1132 applications.

The Consulate General will hold another field registration on the last weekend of October at the Max’s Restaurant in Dubai from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and at the Le Meridien Hotel in Dubai from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on October 30. The Consulate General will likewise be open on both Friday and Saturday to accommodate the surge in the interest of many Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to register as overseas voters. 

The Philippine Consulate General reminds all kababayans of the October 31 deadline for the overseas voters registration and enjoins all to do their civic duty to participate in the forthcoming national elections. END
