28 October 2015 - Mr. Hadrian Mendoza, a multi-awarded Filipino ceramicist based in Virginia, U.S. participated in the 5th Macsabal Woodfiring Symposium, which was co-organized by the Faculty of Fine Arts of Hacettepe University and the Korean Cultural Center (KCC). The symposium was held in Ankara from October 11 to 22.
One of the highlights of the symposium, the exhibition titled “Art for Peace,” showcased the ceramic artworks of 19 international artists from nine countries. Through the exhibition, the organizers and the featured ceramicists hope to contribute in the promotion of peace all over the world.
The Philippine Embassy in Ankara attended the "Art for Peace", which was held in Ankara on October 15, to show support for the participation of Mr. Mendoza, one of the featured ceramists in the exhibition.
Mr. Mendoza, a graduate from Mary Washington College in Virginia and a former student at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC, was awarded the prestigious Anne and Arnold Abramson award for Excellence in Ceramics in 1996-1997. He also received awards and grants from the Workhouse Arts Center in Virginia, FuLe International Ceramic Arts Museum in China and the Toyota Foundation in Japan. Early this year, Mr. Mendoza was selected by Kohler’s Bold Art Asia Campaign as one of the five outstanding Asian ceramicists. END
