05 November 2015 - Thousands of Filipinos swooped to the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai for its field registration activities from October 30 to 31 to register as overseas voters, rushing to beat the October 31 deadline set by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) as the last day of voters registration.
The last weekend of voters registration saw two field registration activities in Dubai at the Max’s Restaurant and at the FilExpo Le Meridien Hotel on October 30, including the daily registration at the Consulate. A total of 579 registered at the two venues in addition to the 644 who registered at the Consulate General on October 30.
On the last day of registration, about 745 registered as overseas voters, bringing the total registrants on the last weekend of registration to 1969.
The Consulate General registered a total of 77,885 during the 15 month registration period which began on 06 May 2014. END
