05 November 2015 - The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai led by Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes, Task Force Lando UAE, Filipino community leaders, and members of the local business circle attended the traditional boodle fight for a cause at the Consulate to generate relief projects for the victims of Typhoon Lando which stuck northern Philippines recently.
Task Force Lando UAE led by Mr. Wendell Castro of United Cebuanos and Mr. Ram Flores of Samahang Masang Pilipino International Incorporated (SMPII) convened leaders and volunteers from the Filipino community of Dubai and the Northern Emirates to organize the brunch for a cause. The same Task Force previously organized similar brunches for the victims of Typhoons Yolanda, Ruby and Pablo in various affected areas of the Philippines. Filipino restaurant chain Mc David's sponsored the boodle fight composed of Filipino fiesta mainstays such as pansit, adobo and fried bangus. The almost day-long activity also included song numbers from Dubai-based Filipino performers, arnis demonstrations, on-the-spot sketches and raffles.
Other similar community activities included the Operation Bayanihan Dinner for a Cause held yesterday at The Filipino School in Rashidiyya, Dubai likewise catered by Mc David's, and which generated relief assistance for immediate use in a selected area devastated by Typhoon Lando. END
