06 November 2015 - Philippine Honorary Consul to Montenegro Dr. Dragan Nikolic officially opened the Philippine Consulate in Podgorica, Montenegro on October 29 at Vila Andjela, Hercegovaka Street in Podgorica. The event was attended by Philippine Ambassador to Hungary Eleanor L. Jaucian and Embassy personnel, as well as members of the diplomatic community, government officials, business community, press and media members, and the Filipino community in Montenegro.
Philippine Honorary Consul Dr. Nikolic promised to do his best to represent the Philippines in Montenegro. In her speech, Ambassador Jaucian emphasized that the Philippine presence in Montenegro will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. She met with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro during her visit.
The Filipino community in Hungary were pleased to learn about the opening of the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Podgorica. There are about 20 Filipino citizens living and working in Montenegro. Most of these Filipinos are engaged in the services sector in the resort town of Budva. The Ambassador commended some of the hardworking Filipinos in Montenegro, one of which a spa owner in a hotel, and another a captain of a ship docked in Porto Montenegro. The Embassy also took this opportunity to register FiIipinos in Montenegro as overseas voters for the upcoming elections in 2016. END
