09 November 2015 – A Filipino group won the top awards at the Macau Fringe Festival on November 01. The group, led by the Santo Niño de Cebu in Macau Association, participated in the inaugural parade which ran from the historic Ruins of St. Paul’s to Leal Senado Square. Around twenty international and local groups joined the festivities.
This is the 15th edition of the Macau Fringe Festival. This year’s festivities is centered on the theme, “Where You Go, Where Art Grows,” and feature diverse performances which highlight the vibrant cultural networks in Macau.
Ms. Violeta Durano, leader of the Santo Niño de Cebu in Macau Association, stated that there were more than 33 Filipinos who joined the parade and that their group will represent Macau in a similar activity in mainland China. The group donned different types of Filipino clothing and performed some interpretative dances, influenced by traditional Filipino music and fiestas. END
