16 November 2015 - Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Wilfredo C. Santos paid a courtesy call on Mr. Ahmed Ahen, Director of International Cooperation and Agreements Department of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce on November 11.

The visit aims to revive discussion on the pending Philippine-Qatar Agreement on the Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments which is expected to open the gates to an enhanced trade relation between the two countries.

The Ambassador was joined by Vice Consul Kristine F. Bautista and Sorhaya P. Dilabakun, Assistant for Political and Economic Affairs.

The Ambassador also informed Director Ahen of the successful Outbound Mission in Doha conducted by the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry together with nine private companies from the Philippines. The mission was attended by around 15 Qatar-based food importers and distributors looking to bring more compatible Philippine products in the country.

With the positive growth the Philippines is experiencing in its overall trade, Ambassador Santos remains optimistic on taking Philippine-Qatar trade relations to the next level and engaging Qatar’s business sector as it veers away from the oil and gas industry and diversifies into a knowledge-based economy.
