dubai bayani16 November 2015 - The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai announces the Search for the 2016 Bagong Bayani Awardees, a world-wide search for the country’s outstanding overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). Conducted by the Bagong Bayani Foundation, Inc. (BBFI), a non-stock, non-profit organization, the Awards aim to provide proper recognition to responsible and dignified overseas Filipinos as an example for others to emulate.

Any Filipino working overseas (land-based or sea-based) possessing the following may be nominated:

  • Must be or has been an OFW for at least two years
  • Has no past or present criminal or derogatory record
  • Must be of good moral standing, or has received recognition for past or present employer for exemplary behavior or outstanding service
  • Employment contract must have been processed by POEA

The Bagong Bayani Awards nominations are in five categories:

  1. Bagong Bayani Award for Outstanding Employee
  2. Bagong Bayani Award for Community and Social Service
  3. Bagong Bayani Award for Culture and the Arts
  4. Capt. Gregorio S. Oca Achievement Award for Outstanding Seafarers
  5. Blas F. Ople Award Para sa Natatanging Bagong Bayani

Employers, deploying recruitment or placement agencies, industry associations, and co-workers, and other reputable individuals or institutions may send in their nominations, together with supporting documents, to:

  1. Bagong Bayan Foundation, INC.

Mandaluyong city, Philippines

  1. Any Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO)

Awardees will receive a trophy, medal, cash, their names inscribed at the “Bantayong ng mga Bagong Bayani” located at POEA and many more.  Awarding ceremonies will be held on 07 June 2016 at the PICC during the Migrant Worker’s Day celebration. Deadline for submission of nominations is on December 15.
