16 November 2015 – The Philippine Embassy participated in the 48th Annual Charity Bazaar of the Women’s International Circle (WIC) Jakarta from November 10 to 11 at the Jakarta Convention Center. 

The 65-year-old WIC non-profit organization is known for its programs and activities to raise funds for charitable foundations. The circle consists of an executive committee with members including the spouses of ambassadors and expatriates as the organization’s honorary members and other selected members.

The annual WIC charity bazaar raises funds for various foundations.  This year’s proceeds will go to the continuation of WIC’s 14 social institutions, scholarship program, and individual humanitarian projects that include building renovations, playground equipment and lip and cleft surgeries.

The Philippine booth was able to sell Philippine crafts like Christmas tree decorations, capiz products, placemats and food items. Dried mangoes were the best seller among the products. Philippine tourism and culture were also showcased during the occasion.

The event was graced by Madam Mufidah Jusuf Kalla, wife of Indonesian Vice President and was attended by 50 embassies and 220 local businesses which sold variety of items from across the globe. END
