23 November 2015 - Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio A. Morales and Labor Attaché Ramon Tionloc, Jr. participated in the symposium “Workforce Readiness in ASEAN Member States: Implications of an ASEAN Economic Community” at the Fullerton Hotel, Singapore on November 13. The activity, jointly organized by the Asia Society Hong Kong Center and J. P. Morgan, focused on the skill gap issues within the ASEAN region, with particular emphasis on the ‘ASEAN Five’ – Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Key stakeholders including leaders from academia, industry and government, addressed existing skills gap issues, why some nations have been more successful than others in managing this, and exploring solutions on how to meet these challenges. The Philippines’ Alfredo Ayala, President & Chief Executive Officer, Ayala Education, Inc. & Live It Investments Limited, was among the speakers of the Symposium. END
