17 September 2013 - In line with the Philippine Embassy in Dili’s strong commitment to promote the rights and welfare of Filipinos in Timor-Leste, officials led by Ambassador María Aileen H. Bugarín called on Director Aniceto Lero Soto, Labor Inspectorate Office of the Secretary of State for Employment and Professional Training (SEPFOPE); Immigration Director José da Costa; and National Director for Consular Issues and Timorese Communities Crisogno Araújo, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation last September 11.
During the meetings, the Embassy requested the officials to provide updates on consular and immigration procedures and regulations of the host government which may have significant bearing or relevance to Filipinos in Timor-Leste.
Ambassador Bugarín also conveyed during the meetings the Embassy’s desire to pursue more dialogue and closer cooperation with the Timor-Leste Government on matters relating to the interests and well-being of Filipinos in the host country.
The courtesy calls also formed part of the efforts of the Embassy to promote the Aquino administration’s thrust for transparent, accountable and participatory governance. END
